About Me
Anthe is an interdisciplinary artist combining textiles and performance to play with alter ego and the concept of the self. Drawing inspiration from internet shock stories, arthropod biology, and fantasy, Anthe explores a mode of transhumanism which is magical rather than mechanical.
In the digital age, when society grapples with a new form of consciousness and machines have become mirrors, a loom is analogue to a computer. Traditional textile techniques represent an age of antiquity lost to the Industrial Revolution, not unlike the existential threat of humanity's own looming obsolescence. Both literally and figuratively, Anthe weaves tapestries for the modern age, crafting a vision of the future through the lens of the past.
Anthe holds a BFA in textiles from the University of Georgia and is currently practicing in Atlanta, Georgia.
